Job Summary:
The Commis Chef assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. This role is an entry-level kitchen position designed to support daily operations, maintain hygiene standards, and ensure consistency in food quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items in accordance with recipes and standards.
Support senior chefs in all sections of the kitchen as required.
Ensure high levels of cleanliness, organization, and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
Properly store and label all food items and maintain stock rotation.
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
Learn and develop new cooking techniques and skills.
Assist with receiving and checking deliveries to ensure quality and quantity.
Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
Work efficiently to support a smooth kitchen operation during service.
Qualifications:
Previous kitchen or culinary experience preferred, but not required.
Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety practices.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
