Kitchen Helper (Dishwasher / Porter)
Overview:
A Kitchen Helper is an essential support role in any food service operation. Their primary duties involve cleaning dishes, kitchen equipment, and work areas. They also assist chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:

Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans by hand or using a commercial dishwasher.
Ensure all items are cleaned, sanitized, and stored correctly.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen floors, walls, and storage areas (sweeping, mopping, taking out trash).
Assist with basic food prep tasks, such as peeling potatoes, washing lettuce, or chopping vegetables.
Unload and store food and supply deliveries.
Assist cooks and chefs with various tasks as needed.
Adhere to all health and safety standards to maintain a hygienic work environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

No formal educational requirements; training is provided on the job.
Physical stamina and strength to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment.
Attention to cleanliness and detail.
Reliability and a strong work ethic.
