Position Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is a strategic and results-driven professional responsible for nurturing and growing our relationships with the company's most valuable clients. This role goes beyond traditional sales; it focuses on deeply understanding the client's business objectives, becoming a trusted advisor, and ensuring the long-term profitability and success of each account. The ideal candidate will be adept at strategic planning, relationship building, and cross-functional leadership to drive revenue growth and maximize customer lifetime value.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic account plans for each key client, outlining growth opportunities, potential risks, and objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and build long-term, trusting relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers within client organizations.
  • Conduct regular business reviews (QBRs) to assess performance, demonstrate value, and align on future goals.
Revenue Growth & Retention:
  • Proactively identify and pursue up-selling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts to achieve and exceed sales quotas.
  • Forecast and track key account metrics, including sales targets, quota attainment, and customer activity reports.
  • Ensure the timely renewal of contracts and proactively manage the risk of churn.
Customer Advocacy & Satisfaction:
  • Act as the internal voice of the customer, advocating for their needs across product, marketing, and support teams.
  • Ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction and swiftly resolve any issues or escalations by coordinating with internal departments.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client's industry, business challenges, and competitive landscape.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Work closely with internal teams (including Marketing, Product Development, Customer Support, and Finance) to ensure a seamless and positive customer experience.
  • Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal stakeholders.
Market Intelligence:
  • Stay informed on industry trends, market activities, and competitors' strategies to identify new opportunities for account growth.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a Key Account Manager, Strategic Account Manager, or similar role, with a documented history of exceeding revenue targets.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing large, complex B2B accounts.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze data, derive insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office Suite.
Preferred:
  • Experience in the [Your Industry, e.g., SaaS, Manufacturing, Healthcare] industry.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Experience with value-selling and consultative sales methodologies.
