Junior Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Accountant to manage our day-to-day accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate will not only be proficient in standard accounting practices but will also have a solid understanding of the insurance broking lifecycle. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient reconciliation of insurance premiums and claims, and maintaining strong relationships with insurers and clients through precise financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance:

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Process journal entries and assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Handle petty cash and company expense reimbursements.
• Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
• Support the senior management with budgeting and forecasting activities.

Insurance Brokering Operations (Finance-Related):

• Premium Accounting: Accurately process, allocate, and reconcile insurance premiums.
• Brokerage Reconciliation: Calculate and reconcile broker commissions across various insurance policies and carriers.
• Creditor & Debtor Management: Manage the accounts with insurance companies (creditors) and corporate clients (debtors), ensuring timely collections and payments.
• Claims Payment Support: Assist in the financial processing and tracking of claims payments, ensuring alignment with policy terms.
• Client Account Management: Prepare client billing and account statements related to their insurance portfolios.
• Compliance: Ensure all financial activities adhere to the rules and regulations of the UAE Insurance Authority and other relevant bodies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certification: Part-qualified or pursuing a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CMA) is a strong advantage.
• Experience:
• A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the insurance sector.
• Essential: Proven experience and understanding of insurance broking operations, including premium processing, commission structures, and policy lifecycle accounting.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, Zoho Books) and MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables).
• Familiarity with insurance brokerage management systems is a significant plus.
