The Joinery Draftsman will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and designs for joinery works within construction projects. The ideal candidate must have proven experience in the UAE construction industry, with a focus on high-quality craftsmanship and precision in joinery and woodwork. This role requires collaboration with project managers, architects, and construction teams to ensure accurate and timely execution of joinery works.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting & Designing:
Create detailed and accurate shop drawings for joinery works, including doors, windows, cabinetry, staircases, and bespoke furniture pieces.
Ensure all joinery drawings are in line with client specifications, building codes, and standards.
Prepare cutting lists, material schedules, and installation diagrams for the workshop and site teams.
Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, interior designers, and project managers to ensure designs align with the overall vision and project requirements.
Coordinate with the production team to resolve technical issues and provide clarifications related to joinery designs.
Assist in conducting site visits for measuring and assessing the feasibility of joinery installations.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Ensure that all drawings comply with relevant UAE regulations, safety standards, and building codes.
Ensure that joinery works are executed with high precision and quality according to approved drawings.
Provide solutions to any design challenges, ensuring the overall aesthetic and functional quality of the project.
Software & Tools:
Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or other industry-specific tools) to create and modify drawings.
Maintain and update drawing files, ensuring proper documentation for all project phases.
Ensure accurate 3D modeling of joinery works for better visualization and client approval.
Project Support & Coordination:
Support the procurement team with material selection and cost estimation based on drawings.
Ensure timely submission and approval of drawings to avoid project delays.
Track progress of joinery installations and report any discrepancies or delays to the project manager.
Health, Safety & Environmental:
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during the design and installation phases.
Assist in the preparation of risk assessments and method statements for joinery installations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in joinery drafting within the UAE construction industry. Familiarity with local construction codes and practices is essential.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other drafting software. Knowledge of 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp) is a plus.
Attention to Detail:
Strong ability to create precise, accurate, and well-documented joinery drawings.
Communication:
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of Materials:
Familiarity with a wide range of materials used in joinery work, including wood, metal, and composites.
