The goal of this project is to introduce and commercialize a fresh perspective of sustainability through "My Green Lab," a certification that is considered the gold standard for laboratory sustainability best practices around the world. We provide labs with actionable ways to make meaningful change by supporting them with the implementation of the outcomes of the My Green Lab assessment. Our goal is to reduce costs and preserve resources while ensuring a safe, healthy, and fun environment in support of our customer\xe2\x80\x99s lab operations. We aim to elevate this initiative into a government-endorsed requirement, collaborating with the Ministry of Environment in the UAE to establish a new standard in the In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) industry.

This internship position is located in Dubai, on site.

Key Responsibilities

Interact with authorities and government stakeholders to secure their support for advancing sustainable laboratory standards. By positioning Roche as a leader in all three dimensions of sustainability (social, economic, and environmental), we aim to take the forefront in promoting sustainable practices.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal departments, external partners, and community organizations to foster collaboration on sustainability initiatives

Develop sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with the regional team, local team and external stakeholders (customers, authorities, etc.).

Communicate project goals, achievements, and challenges to stakeholders, promoting awareness and engagement

Assist in conducting environmental assessments and developing sustainability plans tailored to the specific needs of each lab undergoing green certification

Support the execution of sustainability projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints

Monitor and evaluate project progress, making adjustments as needed to achieve desired outcomes

Develop or execute strategies to address issues such as energy use, resource conservation, recycling, waste elimination, and building design in collaboration with internal chapters

Assess or propose sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance according to requirements

Support the generation of meaningful insights from conducted sustainability projects and translate them into tangible value and ROI for Roche, for the customers and the healthcare system

Provide technical or administrative support for the sustainability program

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s / Master\xe2\x80\x99s studies, preferably in the field of Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Public Health, Health Economics, or related field within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months, and getting to know the pharmaceutical & diagnostics industry.

Furthermore you are / have

Interested in regulatory compliance and sustainability and stakeholder management

Passionate for driving positive change

Excellent organizational skills and a flexible approach to coordinate demanding workloads as well as the ability to adapt to changes.

Able to work effectively and independently within a diverse group of people

Strong overall communication skills in English, ideally also in Arabic

Very good Microsoft Office and Google skills

The start date for the internship is 1 July 2024.
