Job Description

We are looking for a Internal Auditor responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes within the hospital. The role involves conducting audits to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, billing and coding accuracy, financial integrity, and operational efficiency. Candidates with experience in a hospital or healthcare environment are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

Conduct internal audits of hospital departments, systems, and processes in accordance with established auditing standards. Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls in clinical and non-clinical departments. Assess compliance with healthcare laws, regulations (HIPAA, JCI, etc.), and internal policies. Review financial records, patient billing, coding accuracy, and reimbursement procedures for potential risks or errors. Identify audit findings and recommend practical solutions for risk mitigation and operational improvement. Prepare clear, concise, and well-documented audit reports for senior management. Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations. Collaborate with compliance, finance, operations, and clinical teams to ensure accountability and transparency. Assist with investigations of suspected fraud, misuse of assets, or unethical behavior.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree/Masters in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA, CIA, or CISA certification preferred. Minimum 4 years of internal audit experience; at least 1-2 years in a healthcare or hospital setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of hospital operations, medical billing and coding, healthcare regulations, and risk management. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office tools.
