Instrumentation Lab Technician is required to work in Electronics & Mechanical Labs to facilitate and cater to the needs of various researchers using CAD (computer-aided design) into prototypes, understanding diagrams, drafts, flowcharts, documentation, and other information from various end users. Use software to design at the level of industry and government standards, understanding the Compliance requirements. Instrumentation Lab Technician is also responsible for overseeing the installation of control and instrument systems in a variety of Research Projects.

Instrumentation Lab Technician is required to work in Electronics & Mechanical Labs to facilitate and cater to the needs of various researchers using CAD (computer-aided design) into prototypes, understanding diagrams, drafts, flowcharts, documentation, and other information from various end users. Instrumentation Lab Technician is also responsible for overseeing the installation of control and instrument systems in a variety of Research Projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform analog/digital circuit design, embedded microcontroller design, and compact antenna design and integration.
- Carry out effective maintenance of field instrument including routine inspection, Testing, calibration, repair and maintenance, commissioning. Carry out breakdown repair, maintenance and calibration of electronic and pneumatic instruments in site or in workshop.
- You will use SPICE/PSPICE modeling of circuits, schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit assembly / fabrication techniques. Proven technical skills required in PCB designing, excellent in use of simulation software like P-Spice, Proteus, MATLAB, Altium Designer, Good with programming microcontrollers, FPGA, with a focus on measurement accuracy.
- Perform duties as an Instrumentation engineer, supporting developmental efforts from Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) through final design and testing.
- Contribute in the development of rapid engineering solutions to emergent non-conventional threats, specializing in turning high level requirements into engineering designs that integrate microelectronics with novel fabrication techniques.
- Responsible for custom electrical circuits, RF receivers, and antenna designs, and integrate these designs into customized mechanical packages for long service life in harsh environments.
- Conduct research, development, test, and integration of custom embedded systems and special communication capabilities.
- Assist in managing and monitor each stage of a project, Oversee the project manufacturing process
- Read and interpret Schematic drawings and specifications
- Recommend modifications for design improvements and simplification
- Use notes, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete project designs
- Asist in writing and maintain operating procedures and standards
- Maintain Consumables Inventory, and Tools data base and update the usage.
- Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for projects; coordinate purchase of required materials.
- Raise PR\xe2\x80\x99s and follow up on PO\xe2\x80\x99s, delivery, and installation status.
- Staying on top of industry best practices and trends, as well as changes to compliance requirements
- Understand the types of defects and testing anomalies that can occur, how to identify them, and what action to take.
- Establish auditing guidelines and perform frequent metering systems and instruments audits.
- Maintain Instrumentation and metering system knowledge repository.
- Develop and maintain lifecycle management activities for metering and instrumentation systems.
- Understand which tools and equipment to use, and when, and will follow relevant training, methods and techniques and quality control and safety procedures for their use.
- Understand the preparation and reinstatement requirements in respect of the work area, materials and equipment, and the possible consequences of incorrect actions in these areas
- Understand the relevant legislative, regulatory and local requirements or procedures and safe working practices, including their responsibilities with regards to reporting lines and procedures.
- Be able to handle a range of digital information, technology and equipment to support work related tasks and to communicate information.

Requirements
- Proven technical skills required in PCB designing, excellent in use of simulation software like P-Spice, Proteus, MATLAB, good with programming microcontrollers, FPGA, with a focus on measurement accuracy.
- Proficiency with Instrumentation circuits, electronic instruments like VNA, high-end oscilloscope, multimeter, programmable function generator, power supplies, DAC cards etc.
- PCB designing will be an advantage

- Ability to clearly explain design ideas, analytical and strong organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written ability
- Comfortable in writing technical reports, time-management, budgeting.

- Maintenance: Calibrating, repairing, and testing and scheduling
- Soft Skills: Logical thinking, problem-solving, etc.
- Provide clear goals for all areas of a project and develop steps to oversee their timely execution
- Effectively present final project to various research groups
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering,
- At least 5+ years of practical hands-on experience working in relevant fields (Research projects experience will be an advantage)
- Experience in working together with teams from several departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan
- Professional experience and a high-level understanding of working with various operating systems and basic trouble shooting
- Any Courses related to calibration traceable through the Calibration Laboratory and the Primary Standards Laboratory to the National Institute of Standards and Technology will be an advantage.
- Experience Interfacing High voltage circuits with voltage dividers, differential probes using Isolation will be an advantage.
