Job Role
The City Gas Meter Installation Technician is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gas meters and related equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial locations under ADNOC Distribution's city gas network.
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Commissioning
Install new gas meters (diaphragm, rotary, turbine) according to ADNOC standards and manufacturer specifications.
Connect meters to the gas supply network, ensuring leak-tight joints and proper alignment.
Perform pressure tests and leak tests before commissioning to ensure safety.
Calibrate meters if required and verify correct operation before handover.
Replace old or faulty meters as per replacement schedules.
2. Safety & Compliance
Follow ADNOC HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines at all times.
Ensure compliance with ADNOC, ISO, and UAE regulatory requirements.
Conduct risk assessments before work, using proper PPE and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Report and escalate any unsafe conditions, gas leaks, or near-misses immediately.
3. Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Diagnose issues in meters (e.g., incorrect readings, blockages, leaks) and perform corrective actions.
Carry out routine maintenance checks as part of preventive maintenance programs.
Assist in emergency response activities, such as isolating faulty meters or sections of the network.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Accurately record meter serial numbers, readings, and installation data.
Prepare daily work reports and submit to supervisors.
Maintain a record of materials used, job completion times, and customer sign-offs.
5. Customer Interaction
Coordinate with customers for meter installation schedules.
Explain meter usage, safety precautions, and reporting procedures to end users.
Handle customer complaints related to gas meters professionally and escalate when necessary.
6. Teamwork & Coordination
Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other field technicians.
Support contractors and third-party service providers during large-scale meter rollouts.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety drills, and technical training sessions.
