Job Description

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Chilled Water / Chiller & District Cooling Technician who is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of chilled water systems, central plants, and district cooling interfaces. The technician ensures efficient performance of chillers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, valves, and related HVAC components to maintain optimal comfort and energy performance within client facilities. With expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Air Conditioning, and other commercial/residential cooling systems. The candidate should be skilled in both preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities




Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on chillers (air-cooled / water-cooled), District cooling system, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and valves.

Inspect, monitor, and record daily operational parameters of chilled water systems and district cooling plants.

Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and replace defective components such as compressors, motors, sensors, and valves.

Check refrigerant levels, superheat/subcooling, and perform leak testing and charging where applicable.

Ensure efficient operation of primary/secondary pumps and balancing of CHW systems.

Conduct system flushing, air venting, and water quality checks as per maintenance schedule.

Support the commissioning and testing of HVAC systems after maintenance or modification.

Maintain detailed maintenance and service records as per company standards.

Coordinate with control technicians for BMS alarms and system optimization

Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements during maintenance and plant operations.

Assist in training junior technicians and helpers in HVAC service procedures.

Support energy efficiency improvement and preventive maintenance initiatives.

Participate in shutdown maintenance, equipment overhauls, and system upgrades.

Attend client or internal technical meetings as required.

Any other duties & responsibilities are assigned by the reporting Engineer/Manager.

Accountability




Maintain continuous and efficient operation of HVAC chilled water and district cooling systems.

Ensure maintenance activities are completed on schedule with minimal downtime. Adhere to quality, safety, and environmental management procedures (IMS compliance).

Report equipment abnormalities, breakdowns, and recommend corrective actions. .Ensure proper use and care of tools, instruments, and equipment.

Qualification/Technical Skills




Educational Qualification

: Diploma / Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.


Experience:

Minimum 5-8 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and operation, with specific experience in chilled water systems, central plants, and/or district cooling systems. Experience in York, Carrier, Trane, Daikin, or McQuay chillers preferred.


Specialized Skills




Specialized Skills Trade Test Certificate or OEM Chiller Maintenance Training (advantage) Strong technical knowledge of chillers, CHW pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VFDs, and district cooling systems. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and control diagrams. Familiarity with control systems and BMS operations. Excellent troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills. Good communication and reporting skills. Physically fit to work in plant rooms and outdoor environments. Awareness of company IMS and HSE policies. Safety Certifications (Basic HSE / Confined Space / LOTO) preferred. Solid understanding of basic refrigeration and air conditioning principles. Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and leak detectors. Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge (control circuits, sensors, contactors). Good communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Valid HVAC technician license/certification (preferred).
