Purpose and Scope:
A Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician inspects, adjusts, repairs and maintains equipment to preserve constant and dependable indoor air comfort and critical or laboratory environments. Supervise HVAC staff and enforce company policies and safety regulations.

Essential Responsibilities:
Supervise maintenance and installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. ~Analyze and resolve work problems and assists mechanics, when necessary, in solving problems. ~Assure productivity and schedules are being achieved. ~Monitor sick leave, emergency leave, and LWOP usage. ~Enforce company policies and safety regulations.

A Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician inspects, adjusts, repairs and maintains equipment to preserve constant and dependable indoor air comfort and critical or laboratory environments. He must:~Understand completely the operation of, and be proficient in, the repair of direct expansion and chilled water-based cooling systems.~Understand the operation of, and be proficient in the repair of, complex centrifugal chillers.~Employ test equipment including electrical multi-meters, air and water flow meters, and temperature and pressure sensors to diagnose environmental control system malfunction.~Be formally certified to handle, procure, introduce, and recover CFC, HFC, and HCFC refrigerants.~Specialize in the operation and maintenance of pneumatic and electronic direct digital control systems. This includes the ability to operate and program computerized hand-held service tools in the test, commissioning and repair of electronic programmable controllers.~Understand completely the operation of, and is proficient in, the repair of large air handlers. This includes the capability to test and balance large air distribution systems.~Pass pre-employment drug screen and demonstrate the ability to frequently lift loads in excess of 50 lbs.~Be prepared to work shift work, including weekends and overtime when required.~Possess a valid driver\'s license.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
High school diploma/GED and 2 years advanced education or equivalent specialized training. 4 years\' experience in HVAC and refrigeration, including 1-year supervisory experience. Requires operating application software including word-processing and spreadsheet programs. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. The Contractor shall have the following qualifications and credentials:

• The North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification or the Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC), or any international equivalent HVAC trained certificate.
• 608 and 609 certifications, or the EPA Universal CFC/HCFC Refrigerant Processing Certificate.
• Copper brazing qualified.
• 10K/Forklift Class III. 2000 \xe2\x80\x93 10,000 lbs. certified
• Powered Industrial Truck - skid-steer loader operators training certified.

Secret Clearance or better is required:
Clearable: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
