HVAC Ducting and Packing job involves fabricating, installing, and maintaining ductwork for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, with specific tasks including measuring, cutting, and sealing ducts, installing supports, and ensuring the system meets technical and safety standards for both offshore oil and gas platforms and onshore industrial/commercial buildings. Key responsibilities include installing duct hangers, ensuring proper airflow, sealing joints to prevent air leakage, and adhering to safety procedures and company protocols.

Onshore

An onshore HVAC ducting professional works in diverse environments like factories, office buildings, and homes.

Responsibilities:

Install air conditioning, ventilation, and heating equipment and ductwork systems. Measure, mark, and lay out duct routes based on building plans and blueprints. Fabricate and assemble sheet metal for ductwork, ensuring precise fits and cuts. Install duct hangers, brackets, and other supports to secure the duct system in place. Seal duct joints with mastic, tape, or sealant to ensure air-tightness and system efficiency. Adhere to blueprints, building codes, and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

Experience with HVAC system design, duct sizing, and installation. Proficiency with tools for cutting, shaping, and fabricating metal sheets. Knowledge of relevant building codes and safety regulations.
Offshore

The offshore role is similar but requires working in the extreme, demanding conditions of oil and gas platforms

Responsibilities:

Install and maintain HVAC ducting in control rooms, electrical rooms, living quarters, and other technical areas on offshore units. Ensure duct systems are robust, protected against potential blasts, and equipped with fire and smoke dampers to prevent the spread of hazards. Install and seal ductwork in a way that meets the specific challenges of a marine environment, such as salt and corrosion resistance. Coordinate with other technicians and supervisors to ensure timely and high-quality installation of HVAC systems.

Qualifications:

Experience with oil and gas facility HVAC systems, including knowledge of blast protection and fire safety requirements. Ability to work in challenging and potentially hazardous environments. Familiarity with classification society rules (e.g., ABS, DNV GL) and the implementation of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) policies.
