Job Description

An HVAC technician with an electrical background installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems, specializing in the electrical components. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults, reading electrical blueprints, wiring and plumbing HVAC equipment, performing routine maintenance and calibration, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and documenting work. This role requires strong diagnostic skills, electrical knowledge, and adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Installation: Install new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including laying out wires and pipes. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, checks, and lubrication on motors, belts, filters, and other parts to ensure optimal operation. Repairs:Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems, such as loose wires, faulty control systems, and worn parts. Electrical Work:Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, connect loose wires, and handle conduit running for HVAC equipment. System Calibration:Calibrate thermostats and other electronic controls to ensure proper system function. Safety and Compliance:Adhere to all safety procedures, wear required personal protective equipment, and ensure work complies with building codes and standards. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, parts used, and work performed. Customer Service: Effectively communicate with clients, provide technical direction, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Required Skills

Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Diagnostic Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems. Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical wiring, control systems, and components within HVAC units. Tool Proficiency:Competence in using a variety of hand tools and specialized equipment for installation and repair. Physical Demands:Ability to load, unload, transport tools, equipment, and supplies.
