The

HVAC/MEP Technician

is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, and other mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) components. The role ensures that all systems are integrated seamlessly into the fit-out design and meet operational and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

HVAC System Installation and Maintenance:

Install HVAC systems, including ductwork, chillers, air handlers, and ventilation systems, according to design specifications.

Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently.

MEP Component Installation:

Install mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems such as lighting, wiring, water supply lines, drainage, and fire safety systems.

Ensure seamless integration of MEP systems into the fit-out design without compromising aesthetics or functionality

Blueprint and Specification Interpretation:

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings for HVAC/MEP installations.

Work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure compliance with design specifications.

System Testing and Commissioning:

Test HVAC and MEP systems after installation to confirm proper operation and efficiency.

Identify and address any malfunctions or inconsistencies during the commissioning phase.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure all installations adhere to safety regulations, quality standards, and client expectations.

Conduct regular inspections to verify system integrity and performance.

Collaboration with Fit-Out Teams:

Coordinate with other trades, including carpenters, electricians, and painters, to ensure seamless project execution.

Provide technical support and recommendations to optimize system performance within the fit-out design.

Material and Equipment Handling:

Select and procure appropriate materials, tools, and equipment for HVAC and MEP installations.

Maintain inventory and ensure timely delivery of required components.

Safety and Compliance:

Follow workplace safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Ensure all HVAC/MEP installations comply with local building codes and standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Background:

Diploma or certification in HVAC, MEP, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

3-5 years of experience in HVAC/MEP installations, preferably in the fit-out or construction industry.

Familiarity with various HVAC systems and MEP components.

Skills:

Proficiency in using tools and equipment for HVAC and MEP installations. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for mechanical and electrical systems. Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with other trades. Physical stamina for handling equipment and working in varied environments.

Work Environment:

Primarily based on project sites with occasional work in workshops for system preparation. May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, or during extended hours to meet project deadlines.

in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Inspect and diagnose issues in MEP systems and ensure all installations meet safety and quality standards. Conduct regular preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns and ensure system efficiency. Collaborate with team members and other technicians to complete tasks efficiently. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities. Provide leadership and guidance to junior technicians, ensuring high-quality work standards Install and maintain diverse heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems Lay out wires and pipes to complete HVAC systems Perform general and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems Ensure that all installations are done in accordance to the set standards Make sure that any loose wires are connected and secured properly Ensure calibration of thermostats and other controls Perform checks on motors and belts and handle lubrication duties Change filters and replace any parts as they wear out Repair motors and service steam and hot water boilers Ensure that chemical compositions in equipment are adequate at all times Handle conduit running for HVAC equipment Order any supplies or equipment needed for HVAC maintenance or installation as needed Ensure availability of all items needed for an HVAC project Respond to emergency situations in order to resolve issues on an immediate basis Handle maintenance of tools and equipment Replace faulty or expired parts in an HVAC system Fabricate parts in case parts are not readily available Determine need for upgrading HVAC systems and take measures to take necessary actions
