Job Summary:
The HVAC Control Technician is responsible for installing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems. This includes working with thermostats, sensors, actuators, DDC (Direct Digital Control) systems, and networked controls to ensure optimal performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial, industrial, or residential settings.
Key Responsibilities: * Installation & Commissioning:

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC control systems, including sensors, controllers, actuators, and networking components.
• Set up and program DDC (Direct Digital Control) and BACnet, LonWorks, or other protocols.
• Verify system functionality and perform start-up testing.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs:

• Diagnose and resolve issues with HVAC control systems, including wiring, programming, and communication faults.
• Perform system diagnostics using multimeters, network analyzers, and software tools.
• Repair or replace faulty components such as relays, circuit boards, and communication modules.
• Programming & Optimization:

• Write, modify, and troubleshoot control logic sequences in building automation software (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Honeywell EBI, Johnson Controls Metasys).
• Optimize HVAC system performance for energy efficiency and comfort.
• Preventive Maintenance:

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of control systems.
• Update firmware and software as needed.
• Document system performance and recommend upgrades.
• Customer Service & Documentation:

• Communicate with clients, facility managers, and engineers regarding system performance and modifications.
• Maintain accurate service reports, wiring diagrams, and programming records.
• Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure all work complies with local codes, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards (ASHRAE, NEC, etc.).
• Follow safety protocols when working with electrical systems and HVAC equipment.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HVAC, electronics, or automation preferred.
• Certifications: EPA 608 Certification (preferred), manufacturer certifications (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls).
• Experience: 2+ years in HVAC controls, BAS, or related field.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in DDC programming and BAS software.
• Understanding of HVAC systems, electrical circuits, and networking.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and control schematics.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills.

• Field service role with travel to job sites (commercial buildings, industrial plants, data centers).
• May involve climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and handling electrical components.
