Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Officer with a solid background in food manufacturing or a similar industrial production environment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with strong technical problem-solving skills, capable of working independently on complex equipment and processes. Excellent communication skills and a deep-rooted safety mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce robust HSE policies and procedures in line with local (UAE) regulations and international best practices (e.g., OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001).
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, job safety analyses (JSA), and audits of all operational areas, including production lines, warehouses, and utilities.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Lead daily/weekly safety inspections and walks to identify and rectify potential hazards, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Manage the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system for high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, and lock-out tag-out (LOTO).
Environment:
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations pertaining to waste management, water usage, and emissions.
  • Monitor and manage the company's waste streams, promoting recycling and reduction initiatives.
  • Oversee the handling and storage of chemicals in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
Food Safety & Hygiene:
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure HSE practices align with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC).
  • Promote high standards of personal hygiene and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) among all staff.
Training & Culture:
  • Develop and deliver engaging HSE induction and ongoing training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture where every employee feels responsible for their own safety and that of their colleagues.
  • Act as a key point of contact for all HSE-related queries and concerns.
Administration & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE records, including training logs, inspection reports, incident reports, and safety data sheets.
  • Prepare and present regular HSE performance reports to management.
  • Manage and monitor the availability and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), firefighting equipment, and first-aid supplies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HSE Officer/Supervisor in a food manufacturing or similar industrial environment (e.g., FMCG, pharmaceuticals).
  • Essential: Recognized HSE qualification (e.g., NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent). A degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is a strong advantage.
  • Essential: Proven experience with technical problem-solving on complex manufacturing equipment and processes.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong Technical Acumen: Ability to understand complex machinery and processes to effectively assess and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent Communication: Confident spoken and written English is essential for clear communication, training delivery, and reporting. Knowledge of Arabic or other languages is a plus.
  • Proactive & Independent: A self-starter who can take initiative, work with minimal supervision, and drive HSE improvements.
  • Problem-Solver: Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills to effectively resolve safety issues.
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
  • High Integrity: Unwavering commitment to ethical practices and responsibility.
