We're looking for a Site Health & Safety Officer who will assist the Site Manager in the implementation of Health and Safety protocols. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides the necessary advice to the Site Manager on site health and safety issues. Monitors compliance with the Company HSMS by conducting regular inspections and internal auditing of site activities. Monitors compliance with established site safety rules and ensures these are conspicuously posted. Undertakes a minimum of a weekly safety inspection and prepares a report for submittal and review with the Site Manager, which is also transmitted to the HSE Coordinator. Conducts a daily tour of the working areas and logs details of observations on the Daily Observation Register. Unsafe conditions and unsafe acts are to be reported immediately. Raises Near Miss / Incident Reports when highlighted. Reports immediately to the Site Manager any serious safety breaches that place workers in life-threatening situations. Assists the Site Manager, Construction Manager, and Construction Supervisor in undertaking risk assessments and identifying safe systems of work to be recorded in safe work method statements. Develops and delivers internal training courses on health and safety topics to the site team. Undertakes a weekly Toolbox Talk with site assigned personnel and ensures that records are maintained of the talks. Assists Construction Supervisors in delivering Pre-Task Briefings to the workforce on the control measures identified in risk assessments and the safe system of work to be adhered to. Develops and delivers the Site Safety Orientation Training for all workers, including Subcontractors and visitors, prior to starting work or visiting the site. Assists the Construction Manager in the development of safety procedures for high-risk activities and assists in briefing the workforce on their responsibilities under these procedures. Audits against these procedures regularly and reports any non-compliance to the Site Manager. Completes the incident notification and investigations and issues the report within 3 hours to the Site Manager, HSE Coordinator, and HSE Manager. Reviews subcontractor Health & Safety plans. Audits the registers and permit systems maintained for lifting equipment, lifting accessories, excavations, confined spaces, hot works, Lock-out/Tag-out, etc. Advises the Construction Supervisors and Construction Manager regarding the requirements of the Company HSMS. Provides weekly input of H&S statistics and data to the HSE Coordinator. Exercises professional conduct at all times. Attends Subcontractor-held Toolbox Talk sessions.
