We have an opportunity for a HSE Engineer II to join our Honeywell Building Technologies Team in Cairo, Egypt to contribute to implementing and maintaining an effective Health, Safety and Environment System on the site to ensure all activities as far as reasonably practicable are conducted in a safe manner under the guidelines set and controlled by the company HSE policy and associated documentation.
HSE Engineer II Responsibilities:
  • Promote safety conduct of all work site and conduct Supervisor’s meeting
  • Ensure all HSE information and records are collated to facilitate the HSE plan and are aligned to HON procedures. Conducts trainings, presentations as needed including management of change process
  • Conduct HSE induction and TBTs, keep records of attendees and promote a positive safety culture
  • Stop unsafe acts being undertaken by anyone whilst at work and not to allow tasks to continue in an unsafe manner.
  • Report any accident, incident or near miss immediately, as per company procedure and prevent the area being tampered with and carry out investigations to determine the root, basic and immediate causes and ensure that corrective actions are implemented for all HSE related events
  • Ensure Subcontractors, Consultant and Client team adhere to the safety requirement.
  • Directs the coordination of all health and safety related activities, including monitoring of workplace environments throughout the sites. Ensure the site welfare facilities (rest areas, water, toilets etc.) are sufficient and in acceptable order. Maintain yearly legal compliance calendar.
  • Arrange third party HSE inspections and training on site as required
  • Ensure, if required, the Permit to Work process is implement and followed at all times when life critical activities are undertaken
  • Maintain a strong continuous improvement culture, aimed at improving HSE on site and within the function and business.
  • Develop understanding and adherence to Honeywell Procedures, values, and behaviors. Develop & maintain current emergency response plans
  • Navigate HON internal programs, such as Management System Tracking tool (MST) for required processes, including but not limited to, Site maturity, audits, verifications, corrective actions and legal obligations
  • Ensure Compliance to Honeywell corporate requirements and Global ISC programs and local legislation (tracks changes, reviews/modifies local procedures to comply). Addresses roles and responsibilities, advises all HSE action owners as needed.
  • Interacts with Site/Project leadership team and various external representatives (i.e., regulatory, trade professionals, customers).
  • Attends scheduled Tier meetings with HBT HSE META Team & regular performance reviews with Line Manager
  • Implements & maintains HSE risk review and aspects and impacts
  • Flexible to adapt working schedule as needed for critical projects. This could include evening and weekend work, on occasion.
  • Flexible to adjust working calendar across several high-risk projects in the country. Further travel may be required as needed to support the business.
  • Any other ad hoc administrative duty as requested by the line manager or management staff.
We value
  • Secondary education (or equivalent). Diploma in OH & S or Environmental studies.
  • OSHA, IOSH and NEBOSH Certificate
  • 5-10 years of experience in HSE in a construction company.
  • Knowledge of local HSE regulation, ability to identify and eliminate the
  • Hazards on site, ability to effectively conduct, direct and manage emergency situations and to lead subordinates.
