Hostess
Position Summary:
The Hostess is the first and last point of contact for guests, setting the tone for the entire dining experience. This role is crucial for managing the flow of the restaurant, providing a warm welcome, and ensuring seamless seating and reservations.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Reception & Seating:

  • Greet all guests immediately upon their arrival with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Manage the reservation system (e.g., OpenTable, Resy), including taking phone reservations and confirming bookings.
  • Escort guests to their tables, present menus, and inform them of their server's name.
  • Manage the waitlist during peak times, providing accurate wait-time estimates and seating guests promptly as tables become available.
Front Desk Management & Communication:
  • Answer incoming phone calls, answer questions, and direct calls appropriately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand, lobby, and menu stock.
  • Communicate effectively with the serving and management teams regarding table status, large parties, and special guest needs.
  • Bid guests farewell and thank them for their visit as they depart.
Coordination & Service Support:
  • Monitor table turnover and coordinate with bussers and servers to ensure tables are reset quickly.
  • Accommodate special guest requests (e.g., high chairs, booster seats, accessibility needs) to the best of your ability.
  • Assist in managing coat check, if applicable.
  • Provide guests with to-go items and manage take-out orders if needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A warm, welcoming, and professional phone manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment.
  • A positive and patient attitude, especially when dealing with wait times or guest concerns.
  • Basic computer literacy for managing reservation systems.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Previous experience in a host or customer-facing role is preferred.
