The Restaurant Hostess is the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in creating a warm and welcoming dining experience. She is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, coordinating table assignments, and ensuring smooth guest flow in the restaurant. The role requires excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and strong guest service focus.
Key Responsibilities
Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables.
Manage the reservation system, including booking, confirming, and updating reservations.
Maintain an organized and accurate seating plan to ensure smooth service flow.
Answer telephone inquiries regarding restaurant availability, menus, and special events.
Communicate wait times and manage guest expectations during busy periods.
Assist in monitoring the cleanliness and presentation of the entrance, host stand, and dining area.
Coordinate with the service team to ensure tables are prepared and ready before seating guests.
Provide menus and share basic information about the restaurant offerings.
Handle guest requests, inquiries, or concerns promptly and professionally.
Assist in collecting guest feedback and communicating it to the management team.
Maintain professional grooming and appearance in line with hotel standards.
Support the restaurant team with additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality training preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor.
Ability to multitask and remain calm in busy periods.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, SevenRooms) is an advantage.
Fluent in English and Arabic; additional languages are a plus.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods.
Ability to walk guests to tables and move around the restaurant comfortably.
