Job Description
Hostess duties include greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, answering phones, and maintaining the cleanliness of the entrance area.They act as the first point of contact, so excellent customer service and communication skills are essential for creating a positive dining experience, answering inquiries, and addressing any issues. Hostesses also coordinate with servers to ensure efficient table turnover and may assist with opening/closing duties or taking takeout orders.
Guest services
Greet guests:
Warmly welcome every guest as they enter the restaurant.Seat guests:
Escort guests to their tables and provide them with menus.Manage reservations:
Take reservations over the phone or online and manage the reservation system.Monitor waitlist:
Maintain a waitlist and provide accurate wait times, keeping guests informed.Address concerns:
Handle guest questions and complaints with professionalism.Thank guests:
Greet departing guests and invite them to return.Operations and communication
Answer phones:
Handle incoming calls, answer basic questions about the restaurant, and take reservations.Coordinate with staff:
Communicate with servers about table readiness and manage seating arrangements to ensure smooth service flow.Handle takeout:
Assist with taking takeout orders when necessary.Perform opening/closing duties:
Assist with restaurant opening or closing procedures.Maintain cleanliness:
