Responsibilities

+ Act as the main point of contact for students' well-being and social development.
+ Monitor and support students' emotional, social, and behavioral needs.
+ Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
+ Teach core subjects (typically English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities, depending on the year level) and ensure lesson plans align with the National Curriculum of England or relevant frameworks.
+ Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including EAL (English as an Additional Language) and SEN (Special Educational Needs) students.
+ Establish clear rules, routines, and expectations to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
+ Manage student behaviour effectively, using consistent strategies aligned with school policies.
+ Conduct both formative and summative assessments in line with curriculum expectations.
+ Track student progress and maintain accurate, detailed records.
+ Prepare academic reports and communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
+ Serve as the primary communication link between the school and parents for the assigned class.
+ Address parental concerns professionally, provide timely updates, and conduct parent-teacher meetings.
+ Collaborate with subject specialists (e.g., Art, PE, Music, Modern Foreign Languages) who may teach specific lessons.
+ Work closely with colleagues, including learning support staff, teachers, and school leadership, to support student learning and development.
+ Engage in ongoing professional learning, staying updated with curriculum developments and best teaching practices.
+ Reflect on teaching practices and implement improvements when necessary.
+ Maintain accurate attendance records and classroom registers.
+ Organize class events, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular activities that enhance student learning and engagement.
+ Ensure the classroom environment is organized, stimulating, and aligned with curriculum goals, including displays of student work and learning resources.

Skills Description


Strong knowledge of the British Curriculum (EYFS, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2), with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons across core subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities.
Classroom management expertise, maintaining a positive, inclusive, and well-disciplined learning environment that fosters respect, collaboration, and high academic expectations.
Pastoral care proficiency, supporting students' emotional, social, and personal development; acting as the first point of contact for student well-being and communicating effectively with parents and the pastoral team.
Assessment and progress tracking, implementing both formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor achievement, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, ensuring professional interaction with parents, colleagues, and leadership, including clear reporting on student progress and coordination of class activities.
Differentiation and inclusion, ensuring all students--including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) or EAL (English as an Additional Language) needs--receive appropriate support, challenge, and access to the full curriculum.
Teamwork and collaboration, working closely with teaching assistants, specialist teachers, and homeroom colleagues to maintain consistency in practices and share effective pedagogical approaches.
Strong organisational and planning skills, efficiently managing time, classroom routines, learning resources, and administrative responsibilities to ensure smooth daily operations.
Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD), actively engaging in training and staying updated on educational research, safeguarding policies, and school-wide initiatives.
