Design Engineer - Panel Enclosures

Industry Background:

Panel factories or panel builders (electrical LT/HT panels, control panels, etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

Enclosure Design & Drafting

Design low voltage (LV) or medium voltage (MV) panel enclosures using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar). Create accurate 2D and 3D drawings for fabrication and assembly. Customize enclosures based on client specifications and project requirements.

Material Selection & BOM Preparation

Select appropriate materials (metal sheets, powder coating, gaskets, insulation). Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for all panel enclosure projects.

Mechanical & Thermal Considerations

Ensure enclosures meet thermal dissipation, IP rating, ventilation, and load-bearing requirements. Integrate cable entry/exit provisions and mounting arrangements.

Standards Compliance

Ensure designs comply with international and local standards (e.g., IEC, ISO, UL, IP, etc.). Coordinate with QA/QC to validate design feasibility and compliance.

Coordination with Cross-Functional Teams

Work closely with electrical design teams, production, and procurement. Support the production team during panel fabrication and resolve design-related issues.

Client & Project Support

Interpret client requirements and translate them into functional designs. Modify existing designs based on site feedback or design reviews.

Documentation & Revision Control

Maintain design documentation, revision histories, and project records. Ensure version control of drawings and design files.

Cost & Optimization

Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, and ease of assembly.
