The Fire Fighting / Fire Alarm Helper assists senior technicians and engineers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, extinguishers, and suppression systems. This entry-level role involves manual labor, tool handling, and basic technical support on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in installing fire alarm and fire fighting systems under supervision.
Support technicians during the maintenance and inspection of:
Fire alarm panels, detectors, sounders
Fire extinguishers and fire hose reels
Sprinkler and suppression systems (e.g., FM-200, CO?)
Carry and organize tools, materials, and equipment at work sites.
Perform basic wiring, conduit fitting, and equipment mounting.
Clean and prepare work areas before and after installations or service.
Help with loading/unloading materials and tools at job locations.
Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
Assist in routine testing and documentation as instructed.
Report hazards, defects, or system issues to supervisors or technicians.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
0-2 years of experience in fire alarm/fire fighting or general electrical/mechanical work
Basic understanding of tools and safety practices
Willingness to learn technical systems and follow instructions
Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments
Good teamwork and communication skills
Desirable Skills (Optional):
Familiarity with fire safety systems or construction environments
Ability to read simple drawings or instructions
Basic electrical or plumbing knowledge
