The Computing Services department is seeking for a Help Desk Officer to provides technical laptop support to students and faculty by installing and troubleshooting software and mentoring students on how to use software applications.
Job Responsibilities
Provides laptop support services to students and faculty at the Help Desk premises, including: Installing university specific software such as Windows NT, GroupWise, Microsoft Office and printer and scanner software.
Troubleshooting hardware and software problems and re-imaging computers with specialized software.
Providing informal, one-to-one training sessions with university -specific software.
Delivering training sessions during faculty orientation to English and Arabic speaking faculty.
Goes, as needed, to faculty, staff and VIP offices and workstations on campus to provide technical support.
Prepare to work outside normal working hours.
Distributes laptops to new faculty at the beginning of the academic year.
Answers and logs calls using Support Magic Help Desk software, assigning related tasks to Technicians.
Skills
College degree or equivalent experience in installing software and trouble-shooting computer programs.
Computer literate and familiar Windows NT and Windows 2000 Arabic enabled.
Arabic enabled Windows.
Arabic/English bilingual essential.
