The Faculty at HCT is currently recruiting for the Fall Semester 2023 which will commence around early August 2023. We are recruiting for the HCT system of 16 Campuses all over the UAE. The vacancies within the Faculty are for Lecturers, and Senior Lecturers (case to case basis).

Job Purpose

Provides experiential evidence-based and competency-based clinical and/or practicum education, training, and assessment for Health Information Management students under the supervision of a faculty and in collaboration with a placement preceptor (if applicable).

Health Information Coding I, Health Information Coding II, Applied Pathophysiology I, Health Information Management Studies, Applied Pathophysiology II, Legal and Ethical Aspects in HIM, Introduction to Management in Healthcare, HIM Hospital Preceptorship I, Biostatistics, Health Information Coding III, Health Informatics I, Health Information Coding IV, Epidemiology, Coding Preceptorship I, Coding Preceptorship II, Quality Management in Healthcare, Health Informatics I, Finance Management in Healthcare, Health Data Analysis, Health Care Economics and Health Insurance, Strategic Management in Health Care, HIM Hospital Preceptorship II.

Key Accountabilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Collaborates with the Academic Program Chair (APC) and HCT Faculty to schedule and conduct frequent and regular site visits as per the program needs
  • Follows the instructions of the APC regarding the development and adoption of clinical assessment and teaching methodologies to achieve academic program objectives and outcomes.
  • Contributes to the development of the students\xe2\x80\x99 practical schedule for the clinical, laboratory, simulation, and field training.
  • Continuously monitors student progress in order to ensure that students are equipped with technical and administrative skills to manage health information systems consistent with professional standards in health care delivery settings.
  • Validates the students\xe2\x80\x99 clinical and field training requirements and preparedness.
  • Checks that students have completed compliance requirements for the assigned clinical and field training sites in order to prepare students towards a career in health information management, by fostering creative problem-solving acumen using innovative technology in managing patient health data.
  • Provides effective pre-clinical and on-clinical orientations for the students, including course instructions, expectations, HCT rules and regulations for clinical placement, field training, clinical and training sites.
  • Provides the students with an ongoing, effective, and evidence-based practicum training including simulation in the pre-clinical settings as per the course outlines and the students\xe2\x80\x99 performances and needs.
  • Supervise and monitor the students in the clinical placement and field training sites, and report to the HCT academic faculty the students\xe2\x80\x99 progression, competency, and areas of improvements
  • Participate in the preparation, delivery, and implementation of the student assessments during the practicum, simulation, clinical, and field training.
  • Provides feedback and supports to students to help them achieve their academic and professional goals. Maintains open communication with students about their performance in the program.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the students, patients, beneficiaries, and other health care workers.
  • Support faculty in development and implementation of program policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with other faculty members and program coordinators to ensure that the curriculum is current, relevant, and meets the program\'s objectives.
  • Offers support to students outside of class, such as office hours or online discussion forums, to help them succeed in the course.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry developments and trends to ensure that the program remains relevant and competitive. Conducts research to ensure that program content is up-to-date and relevant.
  • Attends faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and other higher college events as required.
  • Serves as an academic advisor to students and participate in other student-centered activities.
  • Participates in program and department meetings to discuss curriculum, assessment, and other academic issues.
  • Participates in university-wide committees or initiatives related to teaching and learning, to help promote best practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Perform any other relevant task as directed by direct superior.
Qualifications

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and/or Experience

Academic background includes a minimum of a bachelor\'s degree in HIM, Health Informatics, Computing (Digital Health) or other relevant fields.

Mandatory minimum of 3-5 years of industrial experience in Health Informatics.

Licenses/Certificates:

Having an active membership or fellowship of a professional body (e.g., HEA, AHIMA-CCA/CCS, AAPC-CPC, HIMAA, etc.) and experience of (or certification) in e-learning technologies w would be advantageous.

  • Yearly Ticket Travel Allowance will be paid on an annual basis as per the HCT Human Resources Policy.
  • Education Allowance: Annual tuition fees of AED 60,000/- per family with a cap of AED 45,000/- per child, as per applicable policies and procedures. The following fees can be claimed later on: Tuition, Books, Uniform, Registration, School Transportation fees.
  • Health Insurance for Self, Spouse and dependent Children (up to 3 children) as per the HCT Human Resources Policy. The health insurance covers medicals, dental and optical as well.

The results of the annual performance reviews shall be used as a base for determining the employees learning needs, career development, bonuses, and promotions, subject to management approval.
  • Annual Leave subject to the approved HCT Academic Calendar:
  • The start date for the Faculty position is August 07, 2023 and is subject to the issuance of the HCT visa.
