Job Description

Support the organisation in fostering a Just Culture and promote the safety and wellbeing of our customers, staff, assets and environment.
Participate in the development and roll out of the Safety Fire & Life improvement programme and related behavioural change initiatives.
Provide Safety Fire & Life support, technical guidance and advice to functional departments, and supporting the Health and Safety Manager.
Support the development and implementation of functional department's safety performance standards and indicators in line with the requirements of the Integrated Management System with regard to Safety Fire & Life.
Advise and mentor employees on meeting their health and safety duties in support the organisation's QHSE commitments, particularly in regard to Safety Fire & Life.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Accepting responsibility to act in a safe manner at all times and to work within the safety systems developed for their workplace. In particular correctly wearing PPE as per company standards and implement all protection arrangements as stipulated. Ensure to perform the duties only for which they are trained and certified. Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves and ensure others are not affected by their acts or omissions. Ensuring a positive attitude to environmental & sustainability initiatives & minimise negative environmental impacts. Complying with the requirements of Keolis-MHI QHSE Policies, Safety Management Systems & any specific improvement initiatives. Complying with the Keolis-MHI Quality Management System & any specific improvement initiatives. Reporting any safety occurrences or incidents to their supervisor or manager in a timely manner. Render all possible help in case of emergency situations in accordance with applicable documents. Ensure Assets under area of responsibility are maintained and used with high emphasis on health & safety. Compliance to all safety information/boards / equipment and to protect them from damage by public, passengers or contractors. Ensuring that any damage to safety information/boards/equipment is corrected and/or reported immediately for corrective measures. Maintaining a proactive behaviour towards maintaining work related knowledge and competencies. Visitors are under the responsibility of a unique Keolis-MHI QHSE employee, who should ensure that: No visitor is allowed access in the premises or work site without suitable identification and PPE (if applicable). Visitor is informed to about safety rules be followed on entering the site. Visitor is informed of available emergency evacuations instructions on entering the site. Visitor movement is restricted to required area only.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Knowledge of railway organisational structures and standards, workflows, procedures and terminology (Preferred). Sound knowledge and understanding of safety related legislations, particularly in regard to safety fire & life. Working knowledge of relevant safety and environment legislation and standards and compliance. Working knowledge of railway organisational structures and standards, workflows, procedures and terminology. Examples include hazard log & risk assessment methodology. Good understanding of recognised ISO standards for occupational health, safety & fire (NFPA 130). UAE Fire & Life Regulation.
KEY SKILLS Ability to work in a dynamic team environment. Ability to work with conceptual, analytical and research-based information. Working knowledge of & with experience and proven capabilities to manage fire risk/safety across a large organisation and work across organisational boundaries to achieve outcomes. Good communication and interpersonal skills for working collaboratively across all levels. Working knowledge of Hazard log & risk assessment methodology. Ability to write technical, inspection and audit reports, routine business correspondence and prepare various statements as required. Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities. Detailed experience in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments. Time management and project management skills. Effective procedural development skills. Auditing and/or investigation skills. Sound computer skills particularly in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) & other BI tools such as Q-Pulse.
EXPERIENCES Minimum three years, preferably five years, of work experience as a Health and Safety Officer preferably in the transport industry with experience in safety fire & life standards. Experience in supporting the health and safety efforts of the organisation and providing expert information, advice and training, liaising with external agencies to ensure awareness matters which might impact its workplace health and safety program.
EDUCATIONNAL QUALIFCATIONS I deally a degree holder (or equivalent) with qualifications in Health and Safety such as a Diploma in Safety Fire & Life or NEBOSH, Health and Safety Certificate or the ability to work towards NEBOSH Health and Safety Diploma.
