GEMS Westminster School - Ras Al Khaimah WSR is a real community that combines tradition and innovation in teaching and learning, enabling pupils to be the best they can be in all aspects of school life. We offer the internationally recognised National Curriculum for England, and prepare students to take the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) course and A Level Examinations of the Universities of Cambridge and London (UK). At the present time, the school offers this curriculum from Early Years Foundation Stage to Grade 12 and Pre-KG. Head of Primary School :
Implement the Behavior Management Plan for students in keeping with the policies and codes of WSR and make recommendations to the SLT regarding discipline of students including suspension or expulsion of students where it is judged in the best interests of the student and the School.
Provide recommendations to the Principal in the selection of all teaching and nonteaching staff for vacant positions in the Primary School section.
Monitor the performance of all teaching and non - teaching staff in the Primary School and provide regular feedback and, where necessary, in consultation with the Vice Principal, subsequent action in relation to this.
Respond to all staff issues in a manner that is both professional and in keeping with the WSR Policies, including pastoral care for staff needs and managing staff conflict.
Work with Assistant Head(s) of Primary to provide overall planning, organization and management of all Primary School programs, activities, and events in a collaborative manner, ensuring good communication and a positive working environment.
Ensure that teachers are creating and delivering programs of work that will optimize student involvement, student success and the utilization of a variety of resources.
Lead, engage, support, and inspire Primary School staff, students and parents to accomplish the WSR mission within the Primary School.
Ensure that the academic and general progress of all students is being regularly monitored and assessed.
Ensure that the Primary School has in place best practice effective teaching and learning programs that provide for a seamless transition through the different stages of Primary schooling.
Orientate all new students in the Primary School and oversee the overall welfare of all Primary School students.
Skills
Outstanding knowledge of and proven skills in curriculum development, assessment and reporting, pastoral care and operations.
Demonstrated ability in mentoring, coaching and developing appropriate professional learning opportunities for staff.
Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks, meet prescribed deadlines, and concurrently manage a number of competing tasks.
A strong understanding of current educational practice as it relates to student learning and pastoral care.
Highly developed decision-making skills and a demonstrated ability to think strategically, creatively, analytically, and problem-solve.
