The successful candidate will play a key role in fulfilling the school\xe2\x80\x99s ecological and sustainability vision, as well as challenging students to fulfil their potential within the academic disciplines. The Arbor School are seeking a highly motivated Head of Physical Education to lead the Physical Education department on a whole school level and teach Physical Education in the Secondary School. The department is well-established with a full swimming programme, physical education lessons and a varied sports ECA programme
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader to drive the physical education department forward ensuring that all levels are catered for. We have a strong focus on inclusive practices \xe2\x80\x93 developing a passion for sport for all students, as well as stretching and challenging our students to achieve highly through squad practices and role modelling top level sporting achievements. The successful applicant will oversee the sports programme across the school and will develop our GCSE curriculum. They will lead the strategic oversight of the launch of A-Level Physical Education in the following academic year.
JOB SUMMARY The successful applicant will be proficient and experienced in teaching Physical Education ideally with experience of teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and A Level or IBDP. They will lead on the development of GCSE and A Level curriculum with a strong skill set in motivating and inspiring team spirit. They will line manage the PE team including the Aquatics Lead with direct appraisal and evaluation of curriculum application and student progress.
The successful applicant would be responsible for ensuring all students are involved in sport through developing core sports and bringing in new sporting options. They will develop the Sporting ECA programme to stretch and challenge all students to be active, providing varied opportunities for all to success. The role will include organised inter school competitions, house sporting events, Sports Day and other key events as appropriate.

REQUIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Native-level English language skills
• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience leading a Physical Education Department in the UK or a reputable British school overseas
• A track record of outstanding GSCE and/or A Level examination results
• A track record of outstanding teaching and learning and an ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environment
