Job Description

J&J is recruiting for Head of Medical Affairs Emerging Markets (EMEA)! This is an exciting new opportunity to join the leadership team and increase the well-deserved value and scientific reliability of J&J products/services; determine and implement medical strategies, ensure compliance with EMEA, partner with all departments, and lead the efforts performed for this purpose! As a management board member, has a role in overall management and provides medical leadership/support in all activities. As medical department head, ensures recruitment, retention, performance tracking, training, compliance of department employees (including country medical directors), fulfilling budgets and opex control. EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION: Ministry of Health, SSI, Commission members, HCPs, KOLs, AIFD, Medical Associations, Patient Associations, GCO. Key Responsibilities: Company Growth: As a leadership team member, to drive Company goals in a well-rounded fashion and line with the Credo, contributes to the management as a whole. Represents the medical department and leads the medical activities in participating/ contributing to and supporting the overall management. Provides scientific leadership and strategic support. Maintaining our foundation and revitalizing our portfolio, ensures that scientific medical leadership for all marketed/ prelaunch products. Ensures development of/ contributes to new value-added projects for enforcing the existing goals and setting up new goals; assumes the responsibility and follows up such projects, and takes vital measures, interacts with KOLs, authorities, and partners for planning, execution and timely finalization of those. Lead, develop and facilitate the Strategy for Medical Education Programs for HCPs and GOs from a regional perspective, working closely with Local OpCos, and ensuring high-quality and effective medical education projects. Fulfil requirements on Medical Information from HCPs in due time and quality through our EM Center of Excellence To decide and lead the positioning of the products in the market based on scientific data and ethics ensures that medical strategies are prepared and implemented. Communicates the prepared strategies to key opinion leaders, and leads/exchanges opinions. Ensures medical department organization and structure meet requirements and employs medical leaders producing high-quality work in line with Credo, policies, and procedures. Has routine communication and information sharing with EMEA Medical Affairs Director. Participates in EM MAF activities. Aligns with all reporting activities. Supervises monthly reporting in EM dashboard. Actively participates in related Global/ EMEA/ EM programs/ projects. Ensures information flow from and to EMEA/EM functions. Ensure External and Internal Compliance through adherence to HCBI, global, regional/local SOPs, GSQA, local regulatory policies and industrial code practice. Strategy for Value Optimizers compounds for EMEA region. Lead business collaboration with EMEA VO internal stakeholders, while maximize collaboration with our alliance partners. Data Generation Activities / Clinical Research / Pharmacovigilance: Ensures that MAF data generation projects (RWE, data registries, etc.) are planned, conducted, reported and published as required and in line with Company strategies & policies, and regulations. Ensures that early access programs, Name Patient Programs are conducted as required and in line with the SOP 's, local regulations. Contribute and support the strategy worldwide 10 years plan for data generation (WW IEGP) Leads the coordination of MAF and GCO clinical research activities within the EM region. External Affairs /New Product Planning: In order to ensure interest of the Company in medical matters; acts as the representative and spokesperson of the Company at association meetings, government agencies and formal environment where members of the pharmaceutical sector are present; provides feedback on the medical background. Participates in external affairs programs/ projects, provides medical and strategic input. Follows up the changes and developments concerning healthcare structuring and policy, ensures that measures are taken in advance concerning matters that may impact the Company in the future. Partners with marketing department to ensure that adequate and proactive medical input is provided for strategic marketing and new business issues. Follows up with medical department input in New Product Introduction processes, strategic planning, business planning processes. Management of Medical Affairs Department Ensures that the medical department is adequately staffed with enthusiastic, high-performing individuals with integrity, commitment, good teamwork and communication skills. Ascertains that all members of the department is in good collaboration with other departments. Ascertains rewarding, retention and succession planning and development plans are in place. Provides support, guidance and direction to all MAF employees. Collaborates with EMEA in the participation of medical department employees in EMEA programs, teams, other developmental functions. Experience & expected leadership behaviours Education: University degree in Sciences. MD is a plus 15+ years of experience (minimum 5 years at managerial level) Very good command of English Very good command of healthcare systems, market access and regulations and preferably has professional experience in Marketing and Sales Expected Leadership Imperatives Behaviors: People Leadership Profile is expected with an ability to combine medical evidence with business discussions and strong execution. Advanced skills to handle a range of complex relationships/issues/ projects simultaneously Proven influential skills at senior level needed Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the company and with external stakeholders Understanding of the healthcare system, its relevant processes - experience in/knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry Knowledgeable and competent in communicating and convince high-level public officers at government such as Ministries Competent in building relationships with all levels in the organization Analytical thinking skills & Result oriented Awareness and adherence to J&J Credo values and international healthcare business integrity guide Job location: The role in EM region involves EMEA and International travel. The role holder could be located in different locations throughout the region and expect to travel up to 50% of the time.
