Job Description

The Head of Marine will be responsible for overseeing the marine operations of the company's fleet, ensuring compliance with international regulations, optimizing vessel performance, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong technical expertise, operational acumen, and team management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Marine Department, including marine superintendents, vetting officers, and navigational auditors.
Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient marine operations across the fleet.
Oversee navigational audits, inspections, port state control (PSC) readiness, and internal/external vetting.
Ensure compliance with international regulations (ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, STCW) and industry standards (OCIMF, TMSA, RightShip).
Liaise with Class, Flag, Port State, and other regulatory bodies on marine matters.
Provide marine input in chartering, vetting, and commercial support.
Analyze navigational incidents and near-misses; implement corrective/preventive measures.
Lead risk assessments and promote a strong safety culture across the fleet.
Monitor and implement environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives.
Provide leadership and mentoring to marine teams, both ashore and onboard.
Support recruitment, training, and development of deck officers and marine personnel.
