About the Client

Our client is a Dubai-based international container shipping company specializing in transporting cargo. The company operates between the Far East, Middle East, Black Sea, and Indian subcontinent.

They are looking for Head of fleet who will be responsible for building and managing the complete fleet of vessels (owned and chartered) as well as the container fleet (owned and leased). As member of the C-level team develop and execute the strategy of the company to achieve the targets set by the shareholders. Will have full responsibility and ownership to build a state-of-the-art operational and technical team across multiple locations.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Shipping, Maritime, and Business Administration, and have at least 15 years of experience in a similar role. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have excellent negotiation and communication skills, and be knowledgeable in fleet management, vessel operation, chartering, and equipment (container) management.

Key Responsibilities:

• In charge of chartering, crewing, operations and ship management in liner trade (container vessels) Oversee the maintenance, safety, and efficiency of the fleet and ensure that all regulations and standards are met.
• Is responsible for the procurement of vessels, as well as the maintenance, repair, and efficiency of the existing fleet.
• Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with local and international maritime regulations in force and standards (SOLAS, MARPOL Convention, ISM Code, ISPS code, IMDG code).
• Keeping coordination with internal and external stakeholders; company departments (legal, sales, finances and accounting, logistics, technical), shipping agent, the shipmaster, port authority, port handling company, shipbroker, marine surveyor, etc.
• Bunker management: monitoring bunker consumption, and ordering ships bunkering.
• Control all voyage documents and ships file (manifest, bill of lading, notice of readiness, statement of fact, timesheet, survey report, ships certificates...)
• In charge to establish surveying contracts for marine surveyors to perform and report survey during cargo operations
• In charge of monthly reporting and analysis of all operating activities.
• Participate and negotiate sea transport contracts, shipping agency contracts, handling terminal operator contracts. Be responsible for vessel/charter and container insurance, negotiating with insurance brokers and authorities.
• In charge of chartering operations, clauses negotiations with shipbrokers and ship owners, and approving the charter party for the company.
• In charge of managing the companys container fleet including purchase, lease. Negotiate with manufacturers and leasing companies for optimal procurement of equipment fleet.
• Responsible for reduced idle times and increased ROIC of equipment fleet, as well as the demurrage & detention calculation and invoicing.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Minimum Diploma in Maritime Studies / Commerce / Economics or equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in Container Shipping Line with proven references and network in chartering, brokerage, ship management
• Meticulous, pro-active with positive attitude and willing to learn with Good interpersonal skills and able to work well with others in a fast-paced working environment.
• Able to work independently and as a team and willing to travel as required.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially PowerPoint and familiarity with industry-related ERP software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in English, Russian/Arabic is a plus.
