Job Description

The Senior Finance Manager will lead the financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes across the organisation. This role plays a critical part in supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring financial discipline within the company's operations. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with an understanding of operational drivers in an environmental-services business.
The role
- Lead the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and multi-year strategic financial plans
- Partner with business department heads to develop accurate and actionable financial projections
- Build and maintain dynamic financial models reflecting volume growth, fuel costs, disposal fees, labor, and equipment depreciation
- Analyze monthly performance, identifying key variances and operational drivers affecting profitability and develop and track KPIs
- Provide actionable insights to management to improve operational efficiency and margin performance
- Support pricing strategies, contract bids, and investment cases (e.g., MRF upgrades, fleet modernization, projects)
- Lead financial due diligence and integration analysis for acquisitions and partnerships
- Evaluate capital allocation and ROI for new projects and technology initiatives
- Manage and mentor the FP&A team, fostering a high-performance and continuous-improvement culture
Client requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or ACCA/ CA/ CPA is a must
- Over 10 years of progressive FP&A experience, including at least 3-5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in environmental services, logistics, utilities, or asset-heavy industries strongly preferred
- Proven ability to develop financial models, manage complex data, and translate analysis into actionable business recommendations
Strong understanding of cost accounting, capital expenditure analysis, and operational metrics
