Position: Head of Department - English Language

Location: Doha, Qatar (On-Site)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of English Department to oversee the design, delivery, and academic quality of English language programs for adult learners (and occasionally teens). This is a leadership position that requires a strong academic background, proven experience in program management, and the ability to guide and inspire a team of instructors.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the English Language Department, ensuring academic excellence and program quality. Design, review, and enhance English programs (General English, Business English, IELTS, and ESP). Recruit, train, and mentor English instructors. Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback. Develop and implement assessments, placement tests, and evaluation methods. Ensure compliance with accreditation and institutional standards. Collaborate with management on curriculum development and strategic initiatives. Maintain student engagement and satisfaction through innovative teaching methodologies. Represent the department in internal meetings and external academic forums when required.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Linguistics, Education, TESOL, or Applied Linguistics. CELTA, DELTA, or equivalent internationally recognized teaching certification (mandatory). Minimum

5+ years of English teaching experience

, with at least

2+ years in a leadership/coordination role

. Proven expertise in IELTS/TOEFL/Business English training. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment design, and quality assurance. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Prior experience in the Middle East/Gulf region is an advantage.
