THE POST Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Teacher - Elementary for Al Danah Charter School in Abu Dhabi for the next Academic Year 2022 - 2023. Al Danah Charter School is KG and Cycle One school located in the outskirts of Abu Dhabi providing a high-quality education to over 1700 students. Charter Schools are the outcome of a unique and exciting partnership between the government and private sectors in Abu Dhabi and offer the American Common Core Curriculum of Massachusetts. RESPONSIBILITIES Job Purpose To be able to teach in an inspiring, and inclusive way, enabling independence, so that every child makes as much progress as possible; to develop positive working relationships with all members of the school and wider community; and to provide high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for all students To provide leadership and management of the ELL Department; demonstrate a vision for outstanding provision for ELL for students of all ages, and the planning and leadership skills required to achieve that vision; to work alongside the Grade Group Leaders and SLT to raise the standards for English across the whole school. Main Duties & Responsibilities . Help the School to be a diverse, inclusive and child-centered community that empowers students to be creative and motivated learners, who will develop into compassionate citizens and leaders. . Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to academy policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations . Comply with Aldar Education's Performance Management Policy, ensuring challenging annual targets are set and to fulfil the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the Principal. . Participating in arrangements for further training and professional development, including undertaking personal training and professional development identified through performance management. . Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of academy improvement or performance management . Plan and deliver interventions, across the whole School . Coordinate in class support for targeted children . Writing and reviewing of action plans for targeted students . Implementation of targets . Liaising with teachers and advising . Management of HLTAs, CAs, ELL teachers . Responsible for the development of timetables . Regular analysis of data, that will then inform planning and provision . Classroom observation of students and appropriate strategies then disseminated to class/subject teachers . Provide Wave 3 support to identified cohorts. . Delivering of training to staff . Arrange meetings with parents to support specifically targeted students . Attending line managements with the Vice Principal, Curriculum, where key information about students is shared and discussed . Attend Aldar ELL network meetings . Coordination of access arrangements for MAPs assessments. . Continue personal development in relevant areas especially subject knowledge & teaching methods Other Professional Requirements . Provide guidance and advice to all stakeholders on educational matters . Have a working knowledge of teachers' professional duties and legal liabilities; . Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the School/Aldar Education. . Complete administrative and organisational tasks related to post . Be prepared to supervise students before and after school and during lunch breaks . Have good subject knowledge in the primary curriculum in order to enable effective teaching; . Establish effective working relationships and set an outstanding example through their presentation and personal and professional conduct . Endeavour to give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations; . Co-operate with other staff to ensure a sharing and effective usage of resources to the benefit of the school and students . Contribute to the corporate life of the school through effective participation in meetings and management systems necessary to coordinate the leadership and management of the school . Take part in marketing and liaison activities such as Open Evenings, Parents Evenings, Review days and events with partner schools within Aldar Education . Take responsibility for own professional development and duties in relation to Aldar Education policies and practices; . Participate in Performance Management arrangements of HLTAs, CAs, ELL teachers . Participate in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above . To comply with Policies and procedures, ICT acceptable use policy and code of conduct. . To actively engage with our school community e.g. through newsletters, informal dialogue, reporting, supporting school functions and contributing to community activities . Safeguarding children's H&S in school and on authorized school activities elsewhere. . Other responsible duties as directed by the School Principal REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications . BA in Education - English as an Additional Language/English as a Second Language/Bi-lingual Education/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages or . BA Degree in English as an Additional Language/English as a Second Language/Bi-lingual Education/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages with Diploma in Education or other teaching qualifications Minimum Experience . Minimum of 6 years teaching English National Curriculum . Experience of an American Curriculum would be desirable but not essential . Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language . A good knowledge of Primary pedagogy. THE PROCESS This job description is not all inclusive.
