Head Of Drama

Qatar, Qatar

Job Description

We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic, and enthusiastic Head of Drama to lead our Drama department, whilst teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-level Theatre Studies. We are seeking a professional whose enthusiasm for performance is infectious, who understands the holistic rewards of the subject, and above all else, has a genuine passion for all aspects of the role. You should demonstrate excellent subject knowledge, a proven track-record of achieving success for your students and experience in directing school productions, with a willingness to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including extra-curricular activities. Drama is a popular choice at Doha College with good numbers of students opting for the subject, particularly at GCSE level where a high percentage of students achieve A* to B grades. A level students gain a wealth of performance experiences beyond the classroom with opportunities to participate in events in the wider community, performing as far afield as the Edinburgh Festival. In a normal year we stage several productions, as well as attending local festivals. Our Drama department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including the annual college production (which typically attracts over 100 students), as well as participation in the Qatar Schools Shakespeare Festival, BSME Drama events, LAMDA examinations, and overseas theatre trips. We are looking for an individual with the energy and vision to develop further opportunities and affirm the subject\'s importance in the personal growth of every DC student.

We are a British international school, and all of our lessons are taught in English. A high standard of written and spoken English is, therefore, essential.
