: * Directs and supervises all administrative and clinical activities of his/her designated area.
  • Develops and ensures the implementation and evaluation of standards of patient care.
  • Coordinates patient placement for optimal utilization of beds and equipment based on priority of patient care needs.
  • Assist the nursing director and the supervisor in the daily nursing rounds to assess the conditions of the patient.
  • Ensures competency-based nurse/patient allocation is followed at all times.
  • Monitor /Administer medications as per doctor's orders.
  • Coordinates with the hospital nursing supervisor to develop appropriate inventory systems, which are ongoing, preventing shortages or overstocking within the unit.
  • Coordinates with hospital nursing supervisors to obtain emergency medications, equipment and supplies, ensuring records are up to date and inventories protected.
  • Ensures preventive and ongoing maintenance of equipment is carried out, reporting all failures or deficiencies through appropriate department head.
  • In Coordination with the Education Department develops coordinates and directs orientation/cross training programs which are competency based, documented and evaluated.
  • Responsible for daily checking of crash carts and emergency equipment's as per hospital policy.
  • Assists in the development of unit Policies and Procedures, which involve patient care issues.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluates care given to assigned patients in an effective and organized manner
  • Provides for the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and families.
  • Maintain and update all relevant patient documentations/medical records as per hospital policy and procedures.
  • Monitor hospital environment for compliance with Infection Control policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrate awareness of fire/equipment hazards and the necessary precautions to be activated as per hospital policy.
  • Adherent the practice of Medication Review.
  • Responsible for monthly preparing duty schedule and annual vacation scheduling for staff nurses.
  • Maintain departmental Budget plan and maintain staffing plan
  • Act as Code Blue Coordinator in Code Blue situations on the unit.
  • Maintain the floor stock of Narcotics, controlled medicines.
  • Use a uniform format and content for planning documents.
  • Provide a described planned service of the department.
  • Guide the provision of identified services.
  • Address the staff knowledge and skills needed to assess and to meet patient needs.
  • Coordinate and/or integration of services within and with other departments and services.
  • Supports good communication between professionals.
  • Jointly plans and develops policies; clinical guidelines; and related protocols, pathways, and other documents that guide the delivery of clinical services.
  • Oversees the quality of patient care.
  • Recommends space, medical technology, equipment, staffing, and other resources needed by the department or service and have a process in place to respond to shortages.
  • Recommends criteria for selecting the department's or service's professional staff and choose or recommend individuals who meet those criteria.
  • Reviews the staffing plan of the department quarterly to ensure the staffing levels related to the workload do not compromise quality & patient safety.
  • Provides orientation and training for all staff of the duties and responsibilities for the department or service to which they are assigned.
  • Identifies, in writing, the services to be provided by the department, and integrates or coordinates those services with the services of other departments.
  • Improves quality and patient safety by participating in hospital wide improvement priorities and in monitoring and improving patient care specific to the department/service.
  • Engages their staff in improvement activities that reflect the hospital wide priorities and address the clinical or nonclinical activities specific to their department or service.
  • Selects and implements clinical practice guidelines, and related clinical pathways, and/or clinical protocols, to guide clinical care.
  • Also share accountability for the review, selection, and monitoring of clinical and nonclinical contracts.
  • Promotes a culture of safety in the department & across the hospital.
  • To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.

Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing.
  • Current license in country of origin, with DHA license (Registered Nurse) to practice in Dubai, UAE.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical area.
  • BLS provider.
  • Demonstrates sound decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Arabic speaking is desirable but not essential.
