The HDPE Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, inspection, and maintenance of HDPE piping systems used in industrial, construction, or water management applications. The technician ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, fuse, and assemble HDPE piping systems using butt fusion, electrofusion, socket fusion, or mechanical joining methods.
Inspect HDPE joints and piping layouts to ensure conformance to design and quality standards.
Read and interpret technical drawings, isometric diagrams, and blueprints.
Operate and maintain fusion machines, cutting tools, and related HDPE installation equipment.
Conduct pressure tests and troubleshoot issues such as leaks or flow problems.
Work with a team to complete projects on-site or in fabrication shops.
Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
Maintain documentation and records of work performed, including fusion logs and quality checklists.
Assist in inventory control and material handling of HDPE components.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical diploma preferred).
Certification in HDPE fusion (e.g., McElroy, Georg Fischer, or manufacturer-specific training).
Proven experience in HDPE pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schematics.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Physically fit and able to work in outdoor and sometimes challenging environments.
Knowledge of relevant safety practices and PPE use.
Preferred:
Experience in water infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
Forklift or heavy machinery operation experience is a plus.
Valid driver's license.
