Prepare molds, tools, and workstations for lamination processes (gelcoat application, hand lay-up, spray-up, or vacuum infusion).
Cut and position reinforcement materials (mat, woven roving, woven fabrics) according to engineering drawings and laminate schedules.
Mix polyester, vinyl ester, or epoxy resins with appropriate catalysts/hardeners, ensuring correct ratios and pot life management.
Apply gelcoat and barrier coats evenly, monitoring cure times and temperatures; use heat blankets or ovens for post-curing as needed.
Perform hand lay-up or spray resin-soaked fibers into molds, eliminating air entrapment and maintaining consistent laminate thickness.
Inspect work-in-progress and finished parts for defects (air bubbles, dry spots, delamination); trim, sand, and finish laminates to specified dimensions.
Clean and maintain molds, tools, rollers, brushes, spray equipment, and vacuum lines; report any equipment malfunctions or material shortages.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations (proper use of PPE, handling of resins/solvents, waste disposal).
Complete daily production logs (materials used, batch numbers, any process deviations) and communicate with supervisors on progress/issues.
