:Job Purpose:The purpose of the Communications Planning & Operations Snr Manager is to support the HO Centers of Excellence and the Regional Comms Teams to collaborate in the development and implementation of a coherent and consistent annual Global Reputation and Brand Plan. The role is based in Dubai and is Group-wide and global in scope.Reporting to the Group VP for Comms Planning and Operations, the primary responsibility of the role is to act as the PMO lead for the annual global communications planning process, based on the use of common formats and clearly defined timelines and milestones. Key tasks include:
  • Overseeing all project planning and management and enhancing these processes
  • building common ways of working and collaboration across the Group\'s portfolio of external agency partners (enabling Inter-Agency Team operations)
  • managing effective information-exchange between HO and Regional Comms teams
  • running HO-Regional team meetings, setting agendas and reporting decisions and outcomes
  • maintaining awareness of the status of Comms planning and implementation with all relevant internal stakeholders
The broader responsibilities of the position encompass support for the overall roles of HO Comms Ops & Planning in maintaining and evolving the Comms global operating model; in ensuring effective evaluation and measurements of Comms investments; and in driving continuous innovation and improvements in professional capabilities within the Comms function worldwide.Key Accountabilities:
  • Strategy. To establish and maintain a good understanding of overall Group Strategy, specifically:
  • Business Strategy focused on building capabilities and positioning as a provider of \'end-to-end logistics solutions\'
  • DP World Brand Purpose and global Masterbrand architecture
  • Global Communications Strategy to support both business and brand objectives
  • managing the sharing of planning information between HO and Regional Comms Teams (using common formats which enable easy identification of commonalities and differences)
  • driving effectiveness across all project planning activity
  • actively encouraging the DP World portfolio of external agency partners to operate as an integrated Inter-Agency team
  • scheduling necessary meetings and discussions and reporting outcomes; and helping to collate and integrate inputs into a coherent and consistent Global Plan (based on measurable objectives and effective budget allocations)
  • maintaining awareness of the overall Plan and progress in delivery amongst all key internal stakeholders
  • act as lead PMO to ensure integrated projects are effectively managed across Group Comms
  • monitoring Comms activities (to highlight likely shortfalls in delivery or insufficient focus on priority issues) and proposing remedial actions.
  • pro-actively encouraging and enabling collaboration across the global Comms function (by highlighting successes, sharing thinking and content, circulating relevant data and insights etc)
  • Planning. To act as lead Project Management Officer in the process of developing the Annual Global Communications Reputation and Brand Plan :
  • Implementation. To support both HO and Regional Comms teams in the effective and cost-efficient Implementation of the Plan, including:
  • Measurement. To create and report on a dash-board of high level Metrics, designed to:
  • measure the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of Communications activities against KPIs
  • tracking progress in building positive attitudes to DP World amongst targeted stakeholders
  • monitoring the impact of such positive attitudes on actual business performance
  • Tactical Responsiveness. To maintain the ability to respond to unforeseen changes, including:
  • short-term opportunities
  • issues or problems which were not anticipated
  • \'Crisis Management\'
  • test and validate new ideas and approaches
  • draw on experience and learning from the external world
  • expand and strengthen professional skill sets on a worldwide basis (via training and best practice standards)
  • maintaining the highest levels of Safety standards
  • Continuous Improvement. To encourage and nurture a culture of innovation designed to:
  • Compliance. To constantly adhere to and actively promote behaviours which reflect the DP World Brand Purpose while specifically: absolute compliance with DP World Principles, Code of Conduct and Ethical policies meeting all agreed standards for DP World Brand and Visual Identity
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • 7+ years\' experience working in a brand and/or communications department, in a reasonably sized company - ideally with involvement in international operations. A reasonable working knowledge of a range of communications disciplines is desirable.
  • Previous project management experience
  • The primary qualifications for this role are excellent organizational, administrative and analytical skills. A strong multi-tasker, able to remain calm under pressure
  • High quality inter-personal skills are needed as the role requires the ability to create and sustain relationships across a diverse range of internal and external constituencies. Accomplished skills in communication and team working are necessary, as are sensitivity to cross-cultural differences and a positive perspective on issues of diversity and inclusiveness.
  • At a personal level, the preferred candidate will show a good work ethic and be reliable, discreet and able to maintain confidentiality. An optimistic nature, can do attitude and strong team player. A professional demeanour, capable of acting as a strong brand ambassador for the department and for DP World.
  • The successful candidate will be well-educated to tertiary level, with a high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English.
