Job Purpose Low carbon fuels are one of 5 key pillars of the DP World\xe2\x80\x99s decarbonisation strategy. The opportunities to implement sustainable fuels in DP World\xe2\x80\x99s port equipment, trucking and shipping activities are plentiful, but require a concerted effort informed by solid understanding of the technology landscape as well as internal feasibility and cost analyses. The new role of Group Director \xe2\x80\x93 Sustainable Fuel Sourcing is intended to assist in the implementation of DP World Group HSE decarbonisation strategy and standards as set by Group VP \xe2\x80\x93 Energy Programmes, through the execution of global environment programmes / engagements and ensuring compliance with the DP World\xe2\x80\x99s philosophy of zero harm to our people & the environment.
Key Accountabilities Specific
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date, relevant knowledge base around the global landscape of sustainable fuels \xe2\x80\x93 including understanding of current and emerging fuels (e.g., hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, biofuels, biogas and more) technology, markets and infrastructure.
  • Advise on strategic sourcing of sustainable fuels to navigate the local supply markets.
  • Analyse the applicability of the sustainability fuels across all of DP World\xe2\x80\x99s operations (ports & terminals, logistics, marine services) and geographies, including feasibility assessments, business cases and liaison with local HSE and engineering managers.
  • Advise on investment and acquisition opportunities of companies (including startups) that could benefit DP World\xe2\x80\x99s business and decarbonisation strategy.
  • Analyse the infrastructure requirements for implementing sustainable fuels in DP World\xe2\x80\x99s operations, for example green shipping corridors, fuel bunkering, refuelling facilities at logistics depots and other.
  • Maintain centralised up-to-date asset register and fleet replacement plans.
  • Review the \xe2\x80\x9clow carbon fuels\xe2\x80\x9d pillar of the decarbonisation strategy on an ongoing basis and propose solutions and programs that could be deployed locally and globally.
  • Contribute to developing sector- and business-specific decarbonisation strategies based on sustainable fuels.
  • Educate the business (from Group senior leadership to local management teams) on the future of sustainable fuels and applicability for DP World.
General
  • Work on the development, implementation, and monitoring of assigned decarbonisation, energy and environmental programs. Assist in promoting and raising awareness, at all levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues.
  • Assist in implementation of the decarbonization and environmental strategies, and 5-year plans.
  • Assist in developing, writing, and maintaining a variety of reports, documents, correspondence, and records related to DP World climate change mitigation, energy, and environment initiatives.
  • Support in preparing audit, analyses and report carbon, energy, and environment performance internally (Monthly, Board and Annual Reports) and externally (such as, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), GRI, SBTi etc.)
Other
  • Responsible for the management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives which are aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.
  • Act as an ambassador for DP World at all times when working; promoting and demonstrating positive behaviours in harmony with DP World\xe2\x80\x99s Principles, values and culture; ensuring the highest level of safety is applied in all activities; understanding and following DP World\xe2\x80\x99s Code of Conduct and Ethics policies. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Graduate of a technical discipline such as Chemical Engineering or Sciences, business strategy and economics. Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 10-years relevant experience in sustainable fuels sourcing and supply, R&D, mechanical/chemical engineering, strategy consulting in the energy practice, transport & logistics, etc.
  • Project management skills, budget management and financial understanding to build business cases.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about key trends around global energy transition, energy efficiency, environment preservation and decarbonisation.
  • Strategic mindset, big picture thinker with an ability to focus on the details where needed.
  • Ability to recognise issues, analyse, formulate, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, computer literacy, report writing and administrative skills.
