The role
This is an exciting opportunity for Graduate Quality Engineers to join our UAE Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an International Client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as Supply Chain, Construction and Commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.
Projects include both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Job Objectives:

• Contributes to technical delivery of engineering excellence through executing assigned scopes of work in a specific engineering discipline.
• Assists in the development of engineering deliverables including philosophies, reports, specifications, calculations, data sheets, and technical requisitions.
• Performs limited assignments of specific engineering tasks, such as contributing to a minor phase of a larger project.
• Emphasis is on documentation, monitoring, and carrying out basic calculations.
• Applies academic knowledge to job responsibilities under close supervision of a more experienced technical professional, performing routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge of basic engineering standards using prescribed standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Performs routine aspects of engineering assignments and collaborates with experienced technical professionals for non-routine aspects of engineering assignments.
• Solves problems of a routine nature within clearly defined procedures and with ready access to support and guidance.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Executes Assigned Scopes of Work:

• Performs a variety of routine tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the engineering staff and the methods, practices, and programs of the company
• Provides straightforward solutions to problems using readily available, clear, and direct references
• Collects and evaluates data, and develops plans for assignments that may involve design application
• Prepares simple plans and designs, calculations and bills of material in accordance with established specifications.
• Carries out routine analysis and works in accordance with instructions.
• Assists more experienced technical personnel with specific aspects of more complex tasks.
• Assist with the specification and selection of equipment to meet project criteria
• Initiate the exchange of required technical concepts and information with the Design staff and other disciplines
• Assignments typically involve individual project phases or projects of limited scope
• Prepares reports on their assignments and makes recommendations on the solution of technical problems within the scope of assignment
• Assignments often involve basic technical observations, analysis and modifications of simple components.
• Participates in design reviews eg as note-taker.

Level of Influence & Decision-Making Authority:

• Works under close supervision, receives detailed instructions and guidance and requires significant direction on how assignments are to be executed
• Work is regularly reviewed for conformance with procedures
• Actions and decisions typically have limited impact on the results of the project or department. Results are short-term and immediately obvious
• Solves problems and makes judgements within established guidelines and procedures
• Solicits assistance from more experience technical professional or supervisor
• Receives guidance through assignments, but is expected to quickly learn to select and apply technical plans, specifications, practices and procedures
• Methods follow application of basic engineering/scientific standards and specific procedures
• Manuals, instructions, procedures and precedents are generally available for guidance
• Waits for directions for new assignments

Minimum Qualifications:

• ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• This is an entry level role, degree qualified incumbents will typically have less than two years experience.
• Graduate level understanding of Engineering practices, design methods and calculations
• Knowledge of trends and economic conditions affecting the technical field
• Ability to comprehend and interpret technical information applicable to their discipline of engineering
• Demonstrates the application of theory in a practical context
• Graduate level of competence in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
• Graduate level of knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation
• Graduate level of competence in own discipline in the execution of assigned tasks
• Graduate level of knowledge of industry and technology development within discipline area
• Ability to comprehend, interpret and prepare applicable technical information and suggest design changes to ensure functional and cost-effective results
• Demonstrates awareness of policies and procedures that affect specific job assignments
• Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports
• Good level of general computer literacy and basic familiarity with some relevant specialist engineering software
