Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Project Management team (PMT). This Company PMT is directly responsible and accountable for the delivery of best in class capital projects assigned to the department. PMT is directly involved in executing and managing assigned projects safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest standards of integrity and compliance. This will involve engineering design, procurement and construction of various sizes, types and complexity of small, medium to multibillion-dollar mega-projects. Project Management Department manages and execute projects from multiple site offices or engineering contractor design offices throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Mechanical Project Engineer\'s primary role is to ensure that engineering design, procurement, construction, and project completion is done in compliance with the project contract requirements, i.e., project schedule, cost, HSE, and company standards and procedures. The role also include involving in some cases to review and study mechanical modifications to oil and gas processing/handling and utilities facilities. Occasionally called upon to design mechanical aspects of new facilities of the types mentioned

Responsibilities:
  • Design and study mechanical modifications to oil and gas processing, oil and gas handling, and utilities facilities.
  • Execute capital projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Develop project proposals, including defining project work scope and schedule requirements.
  • Participate in HAZOP Studies, FEED review, and Detailed Engineering.
  • Manage contractor activities for detailed design drawings, material specifications, procurement, and construction bid packages.
  • Coordinate activities and resolve issues among proponents, contractors, and other parties to ensure construction progresses as planned and achieves mechanical completion.
  • Review the project schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned project\'s progress, and address below-par contractor performance.
  • Review and resolve contractors\' daily claims and complaints related to the assigned project\'s mechanical work during construction, ensuring HSE compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, policies, and agreed work specifications.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of contract documents, project execution plans, interface management, change management, construction sequencing, standards specifications, and project schedules to support timely project completion.
  • Report on projects and implement company initiatives during project execution.
  • Resolve project management problems related to mechanical expertise, including project planning deficiencies, quality defects, schedule delays, and potential cost overruns.
  • Lead multiple concurrent projects, potentially with support engineers.
  • Analyze schedules and budgets.
  • Review and approve project work, ensuring a safe design based on internal standards, industry practices, and personal experience.
  • Develop and apply piping material classes based on product and project requirements.
  • Specify insulation, paint, and protective coatings on Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Select and specify manual valves and piping specialty items.
  • Create and maintain internal specifications, work instructions, and job aids.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to project engineers and other professionals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve project planning, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Evaluate existing tools and methodologies in the area of expertise and make recommendations for implementation at This Company.
  • Conduct special studies in the field of Project Management.
  • Participate in the development of standards, guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures as required.
  • Participate in reviews and evaluations of Engineering & Construction contractors, suppliers, and project management service providers.
  • Provide engineering support for repairing hydrocarbon leaks, reviewing and approving bolted clamp calculations and designs, and collaborating with specialized leak sealing contractors prior to field installation.
  • Review detailed drawings and material specifications from the Layout Group for piping modifications as requested.
  • Participate in HAZOP Studies and FEED reviews.
Requirements:
  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • Hold a Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering from a recognized and approved program. A higher degree is preferred.
  • Ideally, be a Professional Registered Engineer.
  • Have 10 years of related experience, preferably in the oil industry or a similar process industry, specifically in the engineering design and construction phase of projects.
  • Possess experience supporting both small- and large-scale capital projects.
  • Be familiar with International Engineering Codes and Standards.
  • Demonstrate excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have a dynamic attitude towards project improvements and cost savings.
  • Preferably have experience in the GCC, Saudi Arabia, or with This Company.
  • Familiarity with This Company standards is preferred.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of best engineering practices and a solid background in industry codes and standards (such as ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ISO), as well as proficiency in engineering software usage.
