In addition to its core responsibilities, the division serves as the gatekeeper for wholly owned refineries and the global MPIMS model. It maintains an integrated global planning model, which plays a crucial role in optimizing crude allocation worldwide and exploring new international markets and integration options.

Within this division, the Linear Programs (LP) Modeling Engineer plays a significant role. They are responsible for consulting on complex engineering and LP problems, as well as evaluating existing LP model structures and recommending necessary improvements. Furthermore, this role presents the exciting opportunity to develop a new grassroot refinery LP model, mentor and train junior LP engineers, and offer specialized technical services in recognized engineering fields. As a result, the LP Modeling Engineer plays a pivotal part in driving efficiency and success within the S&OP Division\'s operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Run the refinery LP models to optimize refinery systems operations.
  • Collaborate with all concerned organizations to determine the optimum mode of operation for the facilities.
  • Define data and work processes required to maintain and update LP models.
  • Maintain the hydrocarbon LP models by adding or deleting process units and updating yields and stream properties.
  • Add new LP structures to enhance optimization with more operational options for the hydrocarbon systems.
  • Coordinate with operation and simulation engineers to ensure that the LP models contain the latest up-to-date process data.
  • Perform "back-casting" and issue a monthly report on the LP gap, along with required mitigations.
  • Conduct special economic studies using the LP model.
  • Align short-range operating plans with long-term plans in terms of modeling accuracy by collaborating with internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the business plans\' LP model contains the latest information and simulations required for each plan\'s development.
  • Stay updated with new best practices in LP modeling.
  • Mentor less-senior LP engineers and provide structured training as required.
  • Review operational facility debottlenecks and recommend mitigation measures.
Requirements:
  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the oil and refinery industries.
  • In-depth understanding of crude, gas, NGL (Natural Gas Liquids), and refinery processing units.
  • Expertise in LP modeling, with at least three years of experience in using Aspen Technology\'s PIMS model.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering practices, economic principles, and calculation methods.
  • Proficiency in international business and cross-cultural professional practices.
