Job Summary We are seeking a Downstream Strategy & Planning Engineer to become part of our Strategy & Capital Planning Division within the Business Optimization Department (BOD) of our Downstream Business Line. The BOD oversees all operations, planning, profit and loss, and capital plans for both wholly-owned assets and affiliates within the Downstream sector. As a Downstream Strategy & Planning Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to carefully review and make recommendations for capital plans that align with our overall Downstream strategy. Your expertise and insights will play a crucial role in shaping our investment decisions and ensuring the success of our Downstream operations. Responsibilities: Assist in the technical development and economic justification of capital programs and alternative proposals for proposed capital projects. Evaluate opportunities for margin improvements in current refining and chemicals assets, considering the competitive landscape and market fundamentals. Collaborate with other departments to identify growth opportunities and capture synergies between assets. Support sustainability projects aligned with environmental standards and decarbonization targets. Provide commercial and technical expertise in implementing the downstream strategy, including evaluating strategic options, identifying strategic tradeoffs, and developing implementation plans. Assist in the development and review of commercial agreements and Progression (likely referring to project progress tracking or development stages). Requirements: This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. MBA or a relevant advanced degree is strongly preferred. 15+ years of professional experience in business development, with a strong track record of conducting economic and commercial evaluations for major chemicals and refining projects, along with a deep understanding of asset operations and integration. Experience in LP (Linear Programming) with a preference for PIMS (Process Industry Modeling System) to evaluate business cases under various development scenarios. In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the global energy market and its trends, as well as economic and financial models. Expertise in international business and cross-cultural professional practices.
