Generator Technician

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair diesel/gas generators and control panels. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and load testing. Replace or repair parts as needed (alternators, batteries, fuel systems, etc.). Calibrate and configure control systems and automatic transfer switches (ATS). Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. Maintain service records and report on maintenance activities. Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns or service calls.
Requirements:
High school diploma or technical diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or relevant field. Minimum 2-3 years of experience working with generators (diesel/gas). Strong knowledge of generator systems (Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, FG Wilson, etc.). Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Familiarity with ATS panels, voltage regulators, and engine controllers. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy equipment. Valid driver's license (if fieldwork is required).
Preferred Qualifications:
Vocational or trade school certification in generator maintenance or electrical systems. Basic knowledge of PLC and automation systems is a plus. Experience with industrial and commercial backup power systems.
