Render resident medical services to inpatients in accordance with evidence based professional standards for the speciality, under supervision of the named physician.
Support the internal medicine services on both an elective and emergency basis using methods and techniques compatible with generally accepted professional standards in the general speciality and subspecialties provided at the hospital.
Plan and effect follow up care for patients as requested by the Consultant / Specialist in charge of the patient.
Provide resident medical services over 24 hours coverage on a rotational basis 7 (seven) days a week including holidays, weekends and with prospective cover for annual and study leave.
Consult with all other medical staff as required.
Assist in admission process for the patient according to the medical specialties.
Ensure optimal documentation and clinical handover for patients seen through the department in line hospital policy.
Interpret urgent and critical results, liaising with treating physician.
Carry out bedside clinical procedures within the competencies.
Attend departmental & medical staff meetings as scheduled.
Carry out other clinical and administrative duties as are requested by the Head of Department or Chief Medical Officer.
