Physicians who diagnose, treat, and help prevent common diseases and injuries in accordance with MOH standards, generally accepted professional practice and levels of care established by the CosmeSurge Clinics. They may refer patients to specialists when needed for further diagnosis or treatment.
The GP does not have admission privileges and will transfer care to a Specialist or Consultant when admission or hospital transfer is required.
They will take Most Responsible Physician (MRP) responsibilities for patients under their direct care in the Primary care clinic.
The position of MRP can only be transferred with the agreement of another physician in accordance with the policy and guidelines establish by the Cosmesurge.
They will give professional advice and provide technical services, for which they are privileged, to another GP or their patient as requested.
They will both give and request consultations according to the Cosmesurge policies on consultations.
They will take professional responsibility for the care given to their patients by themselves in the environment provided by the management.
They are expected to work in a collegiate manner with all Cosmesurge staff.
They are expected to work within the various rules, regulations and guidelines of the Section and Department in which they work.
Take 'on-call' duty, according to the department duty roaster and the needs of their patients.
When going off duty, they will therefore ensure that the process of handover is carried out appropriate to the patient's requirements.
The GP is responsible for ensuring in their area of work that the patient and or the family are kept fully informed about their condition in an ethical and humane manner. RISKS should be explained to the patient prior to all procedures and signed by the patient in acknowledgement that these are clearly understood
He/she is also responsible for protecting the patient from anxiety related to partially heard or poorly understood medical conversation. Criticism of colleagues in front of patients or relatives is never good medical practice unless it is in a strict medical legal consultation situation and where they are prepared to put the criticism in writing.
GPs must discuss with their Head of Department all examples of serious or repeated minor failures to perform by other medical staff. This will ensure necessary intervention at an early stage.
They will ensure that all the medical records of their patients are completed in an accurate, legible, and timely manner according to the policy on the subject.
They will take part in mortality and morbidity meetings in an open and collegiate manner to ensure fairness and truth in the discussions.

They will attempt to improve their service to the patients through audit, research, attendance at educational events and the use of the library and other educational facilities.
Give the best possible care to patients in the Cosmesurge and ensure that a high professional standard of care is provided to all patients.
Abide by the rules of the Department & Section with the context and adherence to the medical staff By-Laws.
Observe ethical standards compatible with contemporary medical practice in accordance to the Cosmesurge Code of Conduct.
Provide and maintain medical and health professional education and continuing interdisciplinary health professional education.
Ensure decision making is evidence based where possible.
Contribute to the development of and comply with the By-Laws, the Rules and Regulations and the policies of the Cosmesurge.
Ensure that a high professional standard of care is provided to patients under their care within the privileges assigned.
Maintain involvement, as a recipient, in continuing medical and interdisciplinary professional education to meet MOH requirements.
Recognize the authority of the Medical Director, the Medical Executive Committee, Operation Director and the Branch Manager.
Notify the Medical Director or Operation Director/Branch Manager of any actions or claims that may arise and may have an effect on the licensure of the employee to practice medicine.
Attend all meetings of the Departments to which the Medical Staff member is appointed (unless excused).
Serve on sub-committees of the Medical Executive Committee, as required.
Provide consultations with patients, as required.
Contribute to the production of Clinical Guidelines, Critical Care Pathways and Managed care processes as needed for the care of their patients or upon the request from their Head of Section or Management.
Contribute to the development of standards document for quality improvement consistent with professional and CosmeSurge standards; and review of performance activities for the quality improvement program
Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality in maintaining critical and sensitive information, records and reports
Specific reference should be made to accurate record keeping with regard to control of medicines
Empowers and supports staff and is empowered to stop work / remove themselves from a work situation of immediate or imminent exposure to danger/a hazard/if they consider it constitutes a reasonable risk to the safety/health of themselves, their colleagues, and / or the public.
Will not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything (information, equipment, plant, personnel, etc.), provided at the workplace in the interest of health, safety, welfare or protection or management of the environment
