General Counsel, Energy and Heavy Industry Our client, a leading company in the energy, chemicals, and heavy industry sectors, is seeking a General Counsel to join their team in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of experience of in-house legal work, and have worked for a listed company.
Role and responsibilities:
  • Providing legal advice and support to the company on all legal matters, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Managing the legal team and providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior lawyers.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and regulatory bodies.
  • Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures to ensure the company\xe2\x80\x99s compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
  • Participating in negotiations and transactions to ensure that the company\xe2\x80\x99s legal interests are protected.
Candidate requirements:
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience of in-house legal work.
  • Experience working for a listed company is essential.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The role will be based full time in Abu Dhabi.
  • You do not need to have direct experience in the Middle East market, but it will help.
