Job Description

Job Summary:
The General Cashier is responsible for managing and overseeing all cash transactions within the organization, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with financial policies. This role involves handling daily cash receipts, reconciling accounts, preparing bank deposits, and maintaining proper documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cash Handling & Management:

  • Receive, verify, and record all cash, checks, credit card payments, and other forms of payment.
  • Prepare and process daily cash deposits to the bank.
  • Maintain an organized and secure cash float for operational needs.
  • Monitor and replenish petty cash as needed.
2. Reconciliation & Reporting:
  • Reconcile daily cash transactions with sales reports and receipts.
  • Verify discrepancies and resolve accounting errors promptly.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports to management.
  • Assist in month-end closing and financial audits.
3. Record Keeping & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cash transactions.
  • File and archive financial documents for audit purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
4. Compliance & Security:
  • Follow internal controls to prevent fraud and misappropriation of funds.
  • Adhere to company policies, banking regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Report any suspicious transactions or irregularities to management.
5. Coordination & Support:
  • Work closely with the accounting team, front desk, and other departments.
  • Assist in training staff on proper cash handling procedures.
  • Provide support during financial audits and reviews.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Accounting/Finance degree preferred).
  • Experience: 1-2 years in cash handling, accounting, or a similar role (hospitality/retail experience a plus).
  • Skills:
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity.
  • Other: Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and financial regulations.
